LaserMike Instructions - SPC Express for Windows
User may download a Setup File to any gage (LaserMike or other) upon opening a Characteristic.
To interface SPC Express for Windows to a LaserMike, you should follow the instructions below:

In the Characteristic definition (Optional Info) for each of the individual Part File(s):
Special Instruction "SETUPFILE=name" causes the disk file to be downloaded out the comm port when the document is first opened. In addition, if the file name has a .LMK extension, the necessary handshaking is done to the LaserMike unit to ensure that the RUN Mode is properly exited and re-entered, allowing downloads to take place. Example: SETUPFILE=PN1001.LMK
III. Define your Communication Parameters
In the Characteristic definition (Input Options) for each of the individual Part File(s):
Set the Comm Port to "1" or "2".
Set the Baud Rate to 9600,N,8,1 (or whatever you have the LaserMike set to).
Set the Position of Sample to 1.
Set the Number of Characters in the Sample to 8.
Leave the Gage ID blank;
Set the Position of Gage ID to 0 (zero).
Gage Record Length should be 0 (minimum) and 0 (maximum).
IV. Create a LMK file
You must make a "LaserMike download" file. Make it with any text editor just as Windows NotePad. Be sure it has a ".LMK" extension. It should contain whatever commands you want sent to the LaserMike when the SPC Express data file is first opened.
